Any recommendations on tires for the Impreza

Post by Legacy777 »

Looking for new tires for the Impreza. I'm not looking for anything crazy, just a good "all season"

thanks

I've been really impressed with the Radial X from Michelin(sp). Only available from Costco or Sam's club, but last I checked they had a instant cash off a set of 4..

How much are you willing to pay? We have Pirelli Pzero nero on her 01 RS and it has handled 5 inches of snow AND an autocross or two.
Yes I have too many Subarus
No you can't have one

I've been running the Yoko Avid TRZ's on my OBW and my SS. I've been pretty happy with them as an all season. There is no question that they do not perform as well in the snow as a real snow and nor do they perform as well on the tarmac.

But they ride nice, handle decent, and have a 700 TW rating resulting in an 80k warrenty. I ran all season Auto-X on them and there's still lots of tread left. Beware though, they are not rated for speeds over 110mph or 120mph.

The ones on the OBW will finally need replaced after another summer but I've been running them for almost 5 years now.

Kinda pricey, but I've been happy.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I just need some "normal" tires for my daily driver...nothing too fancy. I'm mainly concerned about dry & wet pavement performance.....anything else, I'm really not going to worry about since I live in Houston.

I'll take a look at some of the recommendations. I've got a $100 coupon from Discount I plan to use.

I just picked up a set of Goodyear Assurance TripleTreads in 205/55/16. They're certainly not a performance tire but do pretty well in dry, wet, snow/ice and they have an 80k mile warranty. The only downside I have noticed so far is that a soft sidewall equates to squirmy hard cornering. They are also on the expensive side at around $115/tire for the size listed above. Good luck with the search!

josh check prices from tirerack.com or other places, etc before you go and plop $$$ down at Discount... That way if discount is higher you can get them to price match.. Unless the $100 coupon makes them cheaper to begin with.

We sell Falken ZE912s like crazy at the dealership. I've never driven on them, but every customer we sell them to is happy with them. Decently quiet, exceptionally grippy for an all-season tire, and they're really cheap.

My favorite trick for this is to buy a set of 02-03 WRX takeoffs and run the tires until they are done, then sell the wheels for what I paid for the set.

For the DD, that's plenty good enough.

Ended up getting the Yokohama YK520

It's a discount only tire. Had them on for a thousand miles or so. They have pretty descent grip in the dry & wet, have reduced the road noise, and I believe increased the mileage.

My only complaint is that the side walls are a little soft for my liking, so the response is ok, but squishy.
