winter is ending, My warm weather problem!

Post by 04.STI »

My father and I a while back built a 91 ss for Rallyx and now i took up my own project last september.

Its a 94 legacy ss,

my symptoms are that my car cannot keep idle, and its losing power almost like a fuel cut off. i ran the test on it and its throwing codes for several sensors.

IAC (possible idle problem)
Knock (power losss)
Bypass Valve
MAF(power loss)

now when i changed the maf to a good one, it continued to tell me that my maf was no good.

i took off the iac and cleaned it and still continued to tell me these codes, now i know that this doesnt mean that my iac will work for sure...

i also tried changing the ecu, as well as i reset both of them and i got the same readings.

what do you guys think could be the problem?

maybe a chain reaction from one sensor?

Change knock, I tested mine a handfull of times and it was fine evertime but when it got wet the engine would retard and throw the code for knock. They crack and when water gets in there is triggers it to ground.

ooooook, then just do nothing and wait for someone else to tell you to change the knock sensor for perhaps a reason that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside since being wet isn't doing it for you...

Did you reset the ECU? Disconnect the ground for a few hours then hit the brake pedal. Come back hook it up, start it up, then drive around at normal speed till the engine warms up to make the ecu and tcu learn.

I'd suggest doing as Mike recommended. Replace the knock sensor. They are relatively cheap, and the old/original ones will crack and give you fits of problems.

Besides the battery method, I'd suggest clearing the codes with both the green & black connectors. Info is on my site
