Can't find air filter that fits my Legacy

None of the local parts stores I've been to carry an air filter that will fit my car. They tell me that the car was built for Japan and that the filters that the computer calls for are wrong for the car. I'm not sure if I will have to go to a Subaru dealer to get answers or if someone here can help out.. the latter would be much appreciated.

What Car do you have?

If its the legacy turbo, You should be able to find a Standard Air filter anywhere.

2004 Legacy 35th Anniversary Edition, 4-Cyl. 2.5 Liter

It's NOT a turbo. And I can't find the air filter "anywhere", I've been to 3 places and none of them have the correct filter.

thats weird you cant find one, subaru has used about 3 different types of filters in the last 19 years! your car should take the long rectangle style, try to get a filter for like a 04' forester, should be the same!
