so i finally got time and money to put some tires on my 2005 Leg Gt rims. started leaving the tire store and about less than 100 feet noticed smoke behind the car. thought to myself, well it cant be that cold for my muffler to be making smoke. stop and got out of the car and realized something wasnt right. it smelled like rubber. the rears were rubbing the strut.. WTF, i have seen these on some of the cars from this site. why were mine rubbing. it didnt hear anyone say they would rub in the back. well im going to have to get spacers for the rear. i was just kind of upset that it didnt work out the first time. right now i have new rims and tires on the front and the old rims and tires on the rears.

215 sounds a bit wide. How close is it really?

The wheels are rubbing or the tires? And you said a tire shop put them on and didn't notice this?

yes when the car was in the air i noticed that the rears looked toed in.( hope that is the correct term). but i thought it was just because it was i the air. the tires were rubbing the strut. it is close to were if he tire would not move if you turned it by yourself. yes i told my dad this morning and he said they would have been responcable if anything had happened since they should have caught it before i did. the thing was i got there around 3 and they closed at 5 and i had to be back at 5 for work so we were all rushing. i thought most of you guys use 215 or is 205. well now i need a wheel spacer for the rears and im not sure where to get it. should i look for one for a 2005 Leg GT since those are the rims im using or just look for 5X100 or something.

5*100 universal should be fine but also pay attention to the hub diameter. Better mount all 4 instead of only the rear.
Spacers can't be to wide otherwise you don't have inuff thread left to put on the wheel bolts!!

You can easily measure it by taking of 1 wheel but it should be like 56 mm,

Can't u fit a normal spacer instead of an adapter ?

How many mm of space do you need ? 10 mm extra ?

5mm would be more then enough i think.

normal spacer uses the factory lugs and everything.

even H&R 5mm comes with new longer lugs

For a lot of tires the numbers are not all exact. I had to go with 205s because it was going to be way too close for 215s and I did not want to run a spacer.

Sadly, the only way to find out on every tire/wheel install is to check before they lower the car.

Also Subaru runs from a 55 to a 48 offset depending on the wheel. You have to take this into account also.

ok so im undecided between 15mm and 25mm. keep in mind that i have WRX springs that i am going to be put on so the car will be lowered. if i put the 25 mm on with the WRX springs am i going to run into trouble with the fender wall.

The lowering is mostly in the spring/damper, not in the space where the tire falls into. Lowering the car wouldn't give u any trouble of tires touching the suspension.

well unfortunatly i couldnt wait and bought the 15mm to be on the safe side. safe being that thats should be enough space so it will not hit the strut and also that it isnt to much space to were it will hit the fenders when lowered.

Are you running stock '90 struts now? There is a difference between '90/'91 and '92+ rear struts. I'm using KYB AGXs that are for 92-94 Leg/93-01 Impreza in my 1991 Leg sedan and have no rubbing issues with the 05 Leg GT 17s. My tires are 215/45/17 Toyo Proxes 4. I would expect the 15 mm spacers would fix you up. Spacing the rear and not the front shouldn't cause any issues.
