The two terminal valve was found only on the '90 models in '91 and
up the three wire valve was used. From what I can remember this valve
works on what is called PWM (pulse width modulation) the center wire
is at 12 volts and the ends are switched with a signal that pulses
from 12 volts to ground the longer the ground pulse the more the valve
is pulled in that direction.

That sounds about right.....I've heard a couple discussions about it using a duty cycle as well. Which the PWM could be what they were talking about.

They call it duty cycle when it's refered to in percentage of time on
and off so that's it. A scope is needed to see it They give a voltage
in the manual and that's a rather inaccurate but probably close
enough.
