Not too happy - Air suspension

Post by peter_dearing »

After posting a message about a week ago stating that the air
suspension in my 93 liberty still works, it has died on me! Not very
happy.

I was about 40K out of town on a dirt track when it decided to give
up the ghost. Both front struts were sitting as low as they can go. I
limped the car back to town at about 40k an hour with it bouncing
everywhere.

I decided to convert the car to normal struts. Every quote I recieved
was between $1800 and $1900 Aus (about 900-950 US). The parts alone
were quoted at $1628. Wreakers here have a waiting list for the
struts. Repairing or replacing the air struts was going to cost even
more!

Anyway, my car is in at Pedders Suspension right now getting the
stuts done, with a 1" lift kit. I'm really hoping the car still
handles as well as it did.

My advise to anyone looking at buying a Liberty with Air suspension:
DON'T!!

Peter
