Boost Gauge install...

Post by Brian White »

Just got a boost gauge and am ready to install it. I
was just wondering where everyone's installed theirs?
I was thinking on the top left side of the dash, but I
don't want to permanently mar the surface of the dash.
Any suggestions? Or better yet, pictures?

Oh, and Dave, I've seen where you mounted yours on the
steering column. Very nice, but again, I'd like to do
something that doesn't leave anything permanent if
possible. I've also considered the DIN replacement,
or even making my own DIN panel for the gauge, but I'm
not sure what other gauges I'd get to fill the other
potential slots.

I'm also considering trying to get a Saab 900
intercooler in there but am worried about the cost of
getting the piping fabricated. Has anyone here added
a non-Subaru I/C with any luck? I'm trying to keep
the cost down otherwise I'd find a used Subaru piece.
I know that no matter which route I go I'll have to
have some piping fabricated. Any suggestions on where
I could turn to have the tube/piping fabricated?

TIA.

-Brian

Boost Gauge install...

That does look good......I just wouldn't want to loose the vents.

I would think you could do something similar below the radio if you have replaced the factory unit with a single din style head unit.

I did put it below the radio...realy anoing to have to look down there all the time...

You can put the vents back in place if you want to sell the car...and you won't miss it at all...plenty of air from the sides!!!!

Boost Gauge install...

Post by Brian White »

I have long since replaced the stock head unit. I
just thought that seemed a little low for the
gauge(s). It seems like it'd be difficult to read
that low. I'm not a huge fan of A-pillar pods, but
could consider one. Has anyone here attempted to use
the impreza one on our cars? It looks like it might
fit. They sell a single gauge pod which wouldn't be
too ostentatious. Any thoughts?
