intake manifolds and turbo's and stuff

Post by ericem »

OK I need some clarification. I can get like a modern 02-04 wrx turbo and intake manifold and it will be a direct bolt up to my car? I just need to use my TPS, make a bracket for the wrx coolant tank, and do the power steering mod to relocate the reservoir and run some custom vacuum hoses and coolant lines? Although my stock ECU will work fine? Anything I am missing or clearly missing out? I really like the layout I see with the wrx turbo and having the intake run under the manifold, and not having the IAC cramped up against the turbo!

A wrx intake manifold will not bolt to our SOHC heads OR the common phase 1 DOHC heads usually discussed in these forums.

The easiest way to get an under the intake turbo inlet is to obtain an EJ20K intake setup. Prolly not the cheapest though.

Check out how SLODRIVE is doing his EJ20H twin turbo manifold setup in the build journals section.

Oh ok. I was looking at 92 rally's thread. I just realized it is the stock manifold he is using.

I am now thinking I am better off replacing all hoses and stuff under the stock intake manifold. I will clean my manifold and TB out and put a new gasket between the tb and the manifold and the manifold to the heads. Also seems like the best way to get my IAC out, way to cramped to remove the IAC alone.
