6.5k vs 8k
has anyone seen whether the extra 1.5k rpm with the ej20k heads adds hp or just continuos to drop in hp? i have 20k heads on but not sure if taking them to the 8k rpm will do anything for me

With an EJ20, a TD05 and an upgraded intake and exhaust, you will likely see power gains until about 7K, and still usable until 7500. It will rev to 8K, but without cams you will most likely find little reason to.
Subtract ~500 rpm from each statement if your talking about an EJ22.
Rant..ignore if easily offended.... Most people actually DRIVING thier cars seem to wish they had built for lower RPMs. Dyno queens and race cars need the revs to make the Big Powa, but street driven cars generally *feel* better and more enjoyable with the usable powerband at, or near, stock. Especially if your not droping the coin for a 4.44 gearbox.

Your post wasn't clear, to me, if the EJ20K heads were on a EJ20 or EJ22 shortblock as it's been done by folks both ways.

I don't see a TD05 on the list.
There really is no point in revving that high if you cannot support the airflow in that region. A TD04 isn't even close to enough turbo to support that kind of range. End of story.
If you want to have a reasonable powerband in a given rpm region, you need to be able to support the airflow needed to make power in said region. Cams and heads help support what you provide, but you have to provide it with a turbo that can move that amount of air in that range of engine speed. A TD04 is not even close to what you need to make power there. They struggle on a 2.0L let alone a 2.2. A VF39 falls on its face on a 257.
Spend your money elsewhere, like on a driveline or engine management that you can grow with over time.
