An example why Icelanders are crazy!
So... You guys probably know nothing about Icelandic car culture. - Which is understandable. Icelanders are crazy about cars. We have rallycross, rally, quartermile drag races, glacier offroad and formula offroad.
Formula Offroad is a great sport invented in Iceland in which offroad cars with American V8s and a nitrous-kit try to go as fast as they can at a track - but the track is basically vertical.

Hence the horrific Icelandic commentary. I laughed out loud when I heard it...
Icelanders also invented glacier-offroading. The cars are specially modified for snow and ice conditions with big axles, huuuuge tires and other goodies. Here is an example of a Legacy with a Land Rover chassis on 44" tires and everything:
That is probably the highest Legacy ever and the coolest as well.

I'm just trying to show you a sneak peek into the Icelandic car scene. It's quite unique and I hope you like it.

The definition of insanity is attempting the same thing over and over again expecting a different result each time
That's what makes it awesome!
What engine is in the lifted Legacy?

Sorry, but I don't have a clue about the engine... I think it's an American V8 of some sort, they are very popular in these sort of cars because of the torque.DerFahrer wrote:The definition of insanity is attempting the same thing over and over again expecting a different result each time

The formula offroad reminds of trials/hill climb events here in the US.

Didn't an Icelandic team prep and assist the Top Gear run to the North Pole?
My brother showed me the Formula stuff years ago. Pretty much nuts and awesome.

Yeah, that's right. Arctic Trucks did make the cars for Top Gear and their employees came along and helped Jeremy and friends a lot.DLC wrote:Didn't an Icelandic team prep and assist the Top Gear run to the North Pole?

Right now Arctic Trucks are racing their cars on the South Pole. Pretty cool stuff...

ive been a fan of formula offroad for a while. it's definitely not something you see over here. probably my favorite is seeing them drive across water. or maybe driving out of a roll. or maybe pinnin it across a sidehill pointed 45* up. god i hope they are all wearing a HANS or something similar.
the rigs are basically tube frame, gnarly small block, powerglide, 1 ton axles and ~33x18 paddles right?
also i like how wheel to wheel rallycross is common there as a low buck motorsport kind of like oval track here except way cooler.
