Clutch Master Cylinder Question
Will a 04-05 clutch master cylinder for a WRX fit on a '91 legacy? I came across one of this and since mines on it's last leg I wanted to know if they were compatible. They look to bolt right up but the WRX one has a smaller resivor and i don't know if it would have the same flow capacity as the legacy one. I know the clutches are basically the same for the 2.0 & 2.2 turbo engines, but i'm just trying to get some insight as to if this will work.

I believe they'll probably work. The piston diameter is probably different which will affect clutch travel and pedal effort.
If you ran into problems you'd need to swap the wrx slave cylinder as well.

As far as reservoir size, I wouldn't worry about that. I chopped my clutch res to about half of its original size to clear the TMIC, and there's no problems whatsoever with it.
They are different bores though...the WRX is 11/16" and the Legacy is 5/8".

Well that's about a 17% increase in master cylinder area. Whether it's OK is going to depend on your personal preference. There's also the possibility that it will move too much fluid for the original slave cylinder.
So if you install it, test it before you try to drive the car. If it sucks, use a master/slave that went together originally.
