acceleration problem and something else.. (major update)

Post by SiCkSTi04 »

wagon is auto fwd

the problem started Sunday but hasn't been back since rebuilding my engine. the best way i can explain it is from a stop i will start to accelerate, rpm's raise up normal but the engine seems weak getting up to speed.

also while reaching a driving speed the tranny seems like it isnt changing gears. example: 65mph the rpm's are at 4k or so when i know it shouldn't be that high, maybe 2.5k but if i left off the gas the car starts to bog down like its down shifting. strange stuff right? it happen 2 times Sunday but went away if i let the car sit for a while.

no new changes done to it or replaced. and it would happen more often before my engine rebuild.

im thinking of cleaning the iac, maf sensor, replacing coil, spark plug wire set, the fuel filter and fuel pump. maybe knock sensor because the outer plastic is cracked or TPS ?

What sensors did you replace when you did your engine rebuild?

i replaced the pcv valve, fuel pump/strainer . added new auto tranny strainer and oil. i did clean the maf, iac (didnt take it apart). their are a few vacuum hoses that have small hair line cracks at the end of them, need to order some new replacements.

like i said it didnt do it this morning driving to work. i hope it isnt the tranny. :(

Your symptoms aren't very clear to me, but if the RPMs rise without a corresponding increase in vehicle speed, your transmission is slipping, I'm sorry to say.

I don't know that much about automatics -- what is the procedure for adding the new auto tranny strainer?

Have you double-checked that you have enough ATF in there? Using the correct procedure for checking ATF level?

the strainer install is just taking the oil pan off and a couple bolts holding it in plus i replaced the pan's gasket, nothing crazy. today during lunch i'll check the oil levels.

transmission and diff oil's are up to level. i did tho notice a hose that was almost pinch tight against the external coolant tank it's from the radiator to tranny. (heater hose?)

now for trouble codes. i got a few codes when this started happening but went away this week. last time i checked the codes i was only getting code 35 -Canister purge solenoid valve.

results

21 - Water temperature sensor
22 - Knock sensor
23 - Air flow sensor
32 - Oxygen sensor
35 - Canister purge solenoid valve

the week before, there was some serious rain storms. i went through some small road puddles. car felt like it wanted to stall. (related to the codes?)

i disconnect the battery terminal during lunch, plug back when its time to leave home. i'll see if the codes come back.

Legacy777 u maybe on to something lol

Yeah, see what comes back.

Chances of all those sensors being bad is slim. You however may have water in the connectors, which could be causing you issues.
