Will either 215/45/17 45 offset or 225/55/17 50 offset fit?

Will either 215/45/17 45 offset or 225/55/17 50 offset fit?

i've read through past posts and i think i have my answer, but i wanted to see if anyone would confirm my conclusion.

i'm needing new tires for my 93 SS. the suspension is stock.

it seems the 215/45/17 with a 45 offset will clear the suspension and will not require fender rolling. is this correct?

it seems that the 225/55/17 might clear the suspension and will probably require some fender rolling that probably could be done ghetto style with a pipe or a bat. i think it is both the width and the profile contributing to this. is this correct?

i found the first tires and rims for about $700 whereas the second set is $300. both are nearly brand new. my tires are shot and my rims have flaking paint. if i can upgrade to 17" wheels i would rather do so since next brake job will need new rotors.

all advice is appreciated.

cheers!

forget the 225/55. they will make your car look like a truck. these are the current stock outback size whereas the 215/45 is the current legacy GT tire. go for the 215/45 for sure.........unless you are building a car for occasional off road use.

also from past experience with 215/45ZR17, I know the fenders will be fine. mine cleared everything even when lowered. my offset was +55, but I don't think you will have a problem.
