High Idle!!! FIXED

Post by ej22tVermont »

So I have been researching a strange high idle for a while to no avail. *1994 Legacy Turbo AT*. When I boost and let off the car would stay at 1500 or more for 1-2 minutes before returning to normal. This was SOOOO dangerous at stoplights, when I would have to put the brake to the floor to stay in one place. I thought I had tried everything, I replaced all of the intake pre and post Turbo, IAC, Etc... Turned out that the PCV was clogged as was the lines going to it. Solid chunks came out as the carb cleaner hit it!! While doing this I pulled the bpv... Clogged like the arteries of a typical fat lazy American! After cleaning these and putting back together I figured I would test. The Grin I had was big. The car runs like new again. Well, I wouldn't know I did not buy it new, but needless to say ALL is well. So for all of those out there who have had similar issues, I really insist you try cleaning the S**T out of these things. Now at idle you can hear the PCV doing its thing, and letting off after boosting I can hear the BPV doing its thing. Happy days again!!
