2.5/2.2 hybrid to replace ej18

Post by greg donovan »

am i understanding correct that i can use a ej25 shortblock with ej22 heads under the intake manifold and wiring from my ej18 powered impreza?

i assume i would want a phase II ej25 shortblock and some dual port ej22 heads for this project.

Should be okay, as long as the injector wiring is the same.

Might wanna see if you can use your coolant crossover pipe from the EJ18 motor, in case the coolant sensors are different on the EJ25.

However, you'll want to keep a sharp ear out for pinging or knocking, as you won't just have high compression from the EJ22 heads, but no EJ18 ever came with a knock sensor.

Definitely use 93 octane fuel.
