Oil Pump question! EJ22 vs. EJ22T

Post by hotdogpimp »

Is there a difference in oil pumps for the ej22 NA and the ej22t? Can I upgrade to a newer model of oil pump or are they all the same. For instance, does a 02 wrx oil pump work with the ej22t block?

I broke the pump near the top left mounting tab. I JB welded it in place while im looking for replacement.

All oil pumps will work with all blocks.

The EJ22T has the relief valve shimmed from the factory for increased pressure when cold or @ high RPM.

I believe the turbo/WRX oil pumps also have wider gears, with the gear width corresponding to the number cast into the housing. Wider gears mean higher volume.

The Ej22e NA pump is a 9mm pump.

The Ej22T turbo pump is a 10mm pump. While it is shimmed a little more aggressively than the current WRX 10mm pump, getting a standard USDM WRX pump would be fine.

You could also get an 11mm STi pump if you wanted. As was mentioned they all bolt up.

If you want just a standard Ej22t pump I've got one that is a good used pump. PM me for price and details...
