perfomance chips

Post by Josh Colombo »

The two chips out there are the ProECM www.proecm.com and Torque 2 chip
http://torquechip.com/

Milehial2000 works on the torque 2 chip, and may be able to help you
out. I have a friend running the ProECM in his 2.5 RS. He likes it.
Some have complained of intermittant CEL's due to the ProECM chip.

Another thing I stumbled across is this
http://www.ksystemsengineering.com/sensor.htm Not sure if it works the
same as the chips mentioned above or if there is any other advantage in
running the chips over this little gadget.

As for turboing your motor. If you have the money, resources, spare
car, etc.....to throw into it.....sure why not.

I'm going to be looking into it for my 1990 Legacy 2.2 N/A. However I'm
goin to make sure I have another vehicle to drive around while we work
out all the little bugs and gremlins that such a addition could cause.
I would recommend this on your daily car if it's your only car to drive.
If you have a spare....want to dump money into your N/A......then
ya.....

Forced Air in Phoenix has turbo'd Rod Grosvenor's 2.2 N/A wagon. Rod
went on the nutty side....runnin like 15 psi of boost, with alcohol
injection. He's getting his motor built up to my knowledge.....goin to
be running insane boost levels and kick major ass. However there is
prob a happy medium there....hahaha. Forced Air's site is
www.forcedairtech.com I believe Al's buddy in Denver also does turbo
conversions. I don't know there site or contact info. Maybe Al can
chime in.

Hope that helps some.

You could look at www.torquechip.com These chips have been sold for
Subaru's for over 3 years and they are just getting an upgrade that
should make them better. The conversion of a n/a engine to a turbo
engine is one approach and if a good used turbo motor can be found it
will work very well. A few additional wires have to be run for the
turbo controls. I can help with this as I have installed a '94 turbo
motor in my '95 Impreza coupe. Another way would be to install a turbo
kit. A company associated with mine sells these kits and they start at
about $3200.00.
