Throttle Body Coolant Bypass Mod
I came across this idea when I was searching the google machine for intake manifold phenolic spacers.
Anybody done it?
Can somebody explain to me the purpose of the coolant running through the throttle body?

Thanks, I found that out after reading 6 page long thread on the phenolic thermal spacers for the intake.

So would it be a good idea to bypass it? What kind of temps do you think you'd have to hit for it to actually freeze up? Around here is never gets below 20F and that's pretty rare too.
I will be taking this car snowboaring though but I think the mountain isn't even that cold, only maybe 20 at the coldest.

You should be alright.Besides,a frozen throttle body is kind of like a kick ass air to ice intercooler right? might get you below ambient on the intake charge

94SS.Wiseco forged pistons,TD04,TMIC,WALBRO 225,440's,3" all the way, revtronix stage 2,enough other crap to fill the internet.

I just did this on my turbo. I've read that the turbo makes enough heat not to need the coolant's heat, too. Although, on an NA it may be needed in the snow belt.

Blocking off the cooalnt from the TB and IAC valve is pretty much pointless. The first major restriction is the turbo, then the heads. Even still, 500 whp works with the coolant in those parts. You are chasing a pipe dream.
A turbo, fuel, and EM are the major bottlenecks on these cars. Until you adress those, you are wasting your time.

The best part of this mod?
You DONT have to put the effing hoses back on!!!!! I hate those hoses. Such a pain. Everyone motor I do for my cars I just do a long bypass hose. Happy camper, but thats me.

It's free. I have to buy longer coolant lines anyways because of mounting my EJ22T throttle body on upside down, the hoses don't reach.
