Only in America that marketing people thought it would be "cool" to sell/advertise a car a year later than it really is.

lol usually it's the stealerships that do that though, not private parties. And they do it with new cars, not 15 year old cars.

This car is a 1993... in 1993.
JDM 1993 calendar year = 1993 model year
USDM 1993 calendar year = 1994 model year

Actually, the BD chassis was released in Japan in 1993. The US market got it a year later for the 1995 model year.

So, did Japan have a 90-94 legacy? Even if it was 89-93 that doesn't make sense. That looks like the 95 USDM legacy.

Oh of course they did.

That is a BD Legacy, same as our 95-99.

Check out the Legacy Wikipedia page:

Models have typically been released into Japan and selected World markets such as New Zealand and Chile in advance of the Continental European and North American markets, perhaps because the first two are right-hand drive markets.

* Generation I: 1989–1992
* Generation II: 1993–1997
* Generation III: 1998–2003
* Generation IV: 2003–2009
* Generation V: 2009-

[edit] North American market release schedule

North America usually releases its models two years after Japan does, due to the fact that all current Legacies for the North American market have been built at Subaru of Indiana located in Lafayette, Indiana since 2004. Previously, all USA Legacies were built at either the Indiana plant or the Ōta, Gunma plant in Japan starting in 1989.

* Generation I: 1990–1994 (production started 1989)
* Generation II: 1995–1999 (production started 1994)
* Generation III: 2000–2004 (production started 1999)
* Generation IV: 2005–2009 (production started 2004)
* Generation V: 2009-
