boots are torn and or leaking on both sides in the front and have seen several wrx front axles for sale and wondering if they will work in my 91 sport that was converted to a non sport manual tranny? the axles are from a 2004 wrx sedan i believe. it may be a wagon, does it matter?
thanks
will front wrx axles fit a 91 legacy manual tranny?

Probably not because I believe the WRX has axle stubs that go into the tranny (male axle), whereas first gens have axle stubs on the tranny itself (axle is female).
I may be mistaken on that; they may have started using male axles in 2005, but I think it was earlier than that. Hopefully someone who knows can chime in.

axles
so i just found out from carr subaru that my stock axles are male to female which is the same for wrx's as well.
as far as the spline count, i believe that you are referring to the threads on the male end? if the threads are the same count wouldn't they work? i did hear something about the sedan axles being longer than the wagons which would mean that i may need wagon axles?
the reason i am not buying a autozone or napa stock replacement is because i have heard that people have been unhappy with them.
it sucks, i come home for summer fix all the problems my car has, leaky sunroof, no fan, no radio and then at the end of my summer both drive axle boots on both side are leaking and my engine and tranny mounts go to crap, argh, lol. any suggestions on mounts for a legacy turbo. i figure a wrx set would work well?

No by splines he doesnt mean threads,he means splines lol.Essentially meaning they are not the same diameter.i also vote that there is no compatability.

Replacing the boots themselves is not a big job if your front knuckles are not worn out. I am running the originals on my car with 200k on them. I have torn them down and re-greased them 4 or 5 times and replaced the boots. They are probably worn out now, but they never make any noise and are not loose.

cv's last forever if taken care of,NAPA and others will not last for shit but OEM ones are worth maintaining.
