Spoiler on an N/A

Just picked up an SS spoiler. Now on most Hondas (which I'm used to) they have dimples under the truck to show where to drill. I don't see anything like that on my Legacy.

Anyone does this and know maybe the measurements where to drill? I obviously only have one shot at this and don't want to F it up.

There's no dimples. I used the rubber gaskets as a guide where to drill.

If you remove the rubber bump stops that's where the other screws go through. Someone may have a template out there, however I kind of did it on my own.

Found out that my alignment was actually better than a friend's stock 94 turbo legacy as far as being centered in the trunk.

the thing i'm worried about it drilling into the trunks subframe and not being able to get a nut on the bolt .... hello Mr. holesaw

What I'd suggest doing is seeing if there are any other turbo legacy members in your area where you could take some measurements from their trunk.

as far as i know there arn't any other BC Legacy's around my area period. I got lucky that mine was sitting for so many years. We use salt on our roads and it destroys the cars. most cars that old are in the junk yard.

And i know from searching that there arn't any Turbo Legacy's in the junk yards.

Stay wingless,with an N/A car you should be doing all you can to lighten it.Some people spent $5000 to bump a couple horsepower that would be negated by the weight of the spoiler

,that and they probably dont really help

They MIGHT serve to help airflow reattachment off the rear window if the angle is shallow enough, reducing the low pressure zone behind the car. Even if it does, it's probably a marginal improvement.

$5000? Did they drop a Viper engine in or a built Ford 427? You could drop a built as hell EJ20 in for that lol .... I dont think I'm worried about weight with a system in the car. If I want fast I'll take out my Ducati haha

I was just refering to the upper end of N/A performance,when everything else has been done.Beleive it or not things can and do go that far for some folks.I even read a thread by a guy who took the time to cross drill the heads on all the bolts on his car for weight savings,yeah you would be suprised what that would do.

actually almost every bolt on my racebike is crossdrilled. I have to put wires through them and fasten them down. It's a rule for most race courses. Makes sure no loose bolts go flying out and hurting me or someone else. But that's not for weight saving in my case. But I understand the time involved.
