Water Leak

Post by terryg911 »

1993 Legacy wih a 2.2 liter motor AWD non Turbo. Started puking water out. Look underneath the car and it appears to be coming from the oil pan. However it also could be flowing from above the oil pan sort of above where the lower radiator house elbows into the block. It is also making god awful noises. Sort of like blown rods as well as a water pump that ate itself.

I am about to give up

Sounds like a shelled-out water pump to me, which isn't really too big of a deal to take care of. Why are you about to give up?

If it's flowing from above the lower radiator hose, it's the water pump. The Subaru pumps will leak through the weep hole when they go out. The lower rad hose is attached to the thermostat housing which is bolted to the water pump.
