Late model N/A ECU on a 1990 N/A Engine

Post by FormulaSuby »

Just wondering if anyone has swapped any late model, tuneable by open source software ECU's onto an early engine? I am hoping to build a basic bottom end that I can tune, then adding forced induction to it after it is funtional. I would likt to work with an EJ22 engine without using the turbo setup as a starting point.

You would have to rewire the whole car to do that. Not only would the ECU not plug in, but the majority of the engine mounted sensors wouldn't work either.

I would say your best bet is to plan on using an Ej22T ECU with the Revtronix upgrade. You can wire it in pretty easily when you get to the point where you are turbo charging.

The bottomline is that if you want modern EM either you buy a high dollar standalone ECU or you are playing with the wrong car.
