Uggg.... 1998 GT 5 speed

Post by massdrewski »

well. the shiznit hit the fan last night. big time. I have to sell my "useless piece of crap or else" :smt014 . 167k miles, EJ25D with redone heads, timing belt, head gaskets. Problem is that the drivers side head has valve lash and needs to be fixed. the lash is causing it to throw miss fire on #2+#4.

Basically I got into a big fight with the homeowners about the car sitting there. in the end I lost and the car has to go. it is drivable but I don't want to risk too far of a drive.

$1,800 OBO.

Ream the valve guides + degunk the valves... Fixed my valve issue.

Heads have all brand new internals. Spoke with the machinist and he said that they are perfect. My friend put them on (subaru tech). He came into the shop and spoke with the guy (another friend) so he remembers working on my heads.

I wish I knew why. I have gone over everything. I trust the guy who did the heads and I trust the guy who put them in. theoretically it should work. but it just keeps throwing the PO302,PO304 codes. I have run out of Ideas. Car is no longer at My house. At my parents house for a short breather.

I realized that I should have some videos also. Here is the link to my youtube account with some videos that I made of the car today (July 27th)

Are you keeping it now, then? If not, I have a friend that might be interested.

I would be open to it. I spent $250 for the engine, $200 for parts and odds and ends and $250 for labor.
If I was shown $2,500 today I would let it go.

again. It does run now :) very quiet and pretty nice to drive. Just needs some tires and brake pads in the future.

Awesome! My friend I told about it's a flake anyway. He's going to try to see if it's possible to live without a car. Cape Ann area ain't NYC or even Boston.
