Legacy Wagon Spoiler

Post by 94LegWagon »

Is their anywhere you can get a nice, relatively cheap, subtle spoiler for a 94 legacy wagon?

Here is the one I'm considering putting on my car:

spoiler 1

This spoiler is 53 1/2" wide ...I haven't measured whether it will fit on the car or not.

Here is even a more subtle one:

Have you considered the stock wagon spoiler that came on early LS models. Probably more models but im not sure.

why not find a stock spoiler?

this came on some turbo wagons at least in canada and works great at keeping the rear window clean on wet roads cause it forces wind down the window

it requires some work but why not try one from a 95-99 wagon?

All i did when putting mine on was drilled some holes in the thicker part of the spoiler with a countersink bit and then self tapped screws into the hatch. then covered the small cracks and screw heads with some bondo

Those last two are sick! That black wagon makes me want a wagon again. If you got some black wheels on it or gun metal or something it would look even better!

It's hott.

yeah it's not too much of a hassle... i think it only took me a couple hours or so. there's some Bolt Studs on the spoiler when you take it off the 95-99...i just removed those so i could sand the under part of the spoiler to try to get it to match my hatch... i was kind of in a hurry to do it tho so it's definately not a perfect fit. But well worth it.

Can that spoiler be angled down slightly to better fill the trailing low pressure zone behind the car? Not that I won't probably do that anyway as I've been looking for something like that since I bought the car.

In the post he mentioned sanding it some, so I'm thinking that you could get it to sit at any angle you'd want using the trusty Dremel or a sanding block. I'm definitely giving it a shot though. What's this I hear about the trailing low pressure zone?

Hey Steve, you cant see it in the pics but there are two openings in that spoiler at the top that divert air down over the back window.

wagon rear spoiler

Post by shopwizard »

cj91legss,
The '95 rear spoiler on your Subi looks killer. I will definitely be doing this on my ‘92. Would you happen to have a full, side shot of your car that you could send me or post? I sure would appreciate it. My ’92 is white like yours and it would be a great visualization tool for me.

I have been searching for one of the Australian, Sport edition spoilers that Subaru Australia produced for these wagons but to no avail. They are not as large as the ’95 spoiler and curve from side to side a bit. They look really slick.

+1 for a full "side-view" of that rad white wagon. It looks like the Aussie spoiler may work well on the "raised roof" style wagon, but may sit a bit tall on our US-spec wagons.

Almost like a white Duchess from my books. Just needs fog lights on top of the bumper and stock ride height. I'm going to have to look for one of those spoilers.

I love it too, when i got the spoiler, i was a little hesitant on doing it, but after it was done i was so happy. then last year when i noticed the bondo cracked, i took it off to i could re apply it, and after i removed it my car looked so ugly compared to having it on...

Now the only thing im missing is a roof rack.

Cracked Bondo, eh? May be a job for some fiberglass... Love the stance on that wagon too. How's she handle?

Or the fiberglass/kevlar reinforced filler I'm using to fill the holes from shaving the antenna and the tailgate badge.

Fiberglass/kevlar filler? That'll be a bulletproof Legacy! Make sure to take plenty of pics and post 'em as you do it. That blue wagon has always been one of my favorites and it'll be cool to see that annoying roof antenna disappear!
