Misfire problem
So my car likes to misfire like a bitch when the air has a lot of moisture in it. I've got no engine codes, have replaced the Plugs and wires. Replaced the coil pack and ignitor with Diamonds, replaced the MAF sensor .... um ... think thats it. Thought I'd gotten it though we havn't had any rain for a while up until recently. I will say that everything besides the plugs and wires I grabbed at the junk yard. But the chances of me having the old part and the replaced part both bad aren't that high. So without going through and replacing everything again with junk yard parts (there's about a dozen EJ22's in the junk yard) ... anybody had something similar? I know I had this problem with one of my old Integra's and it was the coil grounding itself out when the air was wet.

No, I have never seen a dozen EJ22's at a single yard...or for that matter maybe not even at all the yards in the area combined. So thats in or around Syracuse NY? I'll have to plan a trip. AS far as your problem with high moisture and your car I have no idea, so let us know when you figure it out.

High tension jumping is the obvious guess but then you should get some code, maybe from the O2 sensor or the idle not being able to keep within range, something like that.
Are you sure all your multi-pin plugs on the engine harness have their water-proofing seals?
Could your paper aircleaner be getting damp? They can swell up and partially block if it's really humid and they sit for a few days.
The other thing that can cause symptoms like that and not set codes, is water in the ecu, especially if there has been a leaking capacitor and the electrolyte has dried up but is absobing moisture out of the air. It doesn't really take so long to pull the ecus out and check them even though it is a fiddle.

Re: Misfire problem
I second checking all your connectors for a good seal. Maybe also clean the contacts.
Upstate NY is first gen legacy mecca (or graveyard, depending on how you look at it)... In 2004 I counted 22 of them in Gary's-U-Pullit outside of binghamton - including 2 TW's and an SS.Xander_X wrote:there's about a dozen EJ22's in the junk yard

Thanks guys ... I'm also going to try replacing the Cam and Crank sensors. The car only has around 60k original miles on it, but it sat for around 6 years. There were a lot of rotted lines underneath when i got it so I'm thinking maybe the crank sensor is rotted and shorting to ground when it's wet. It's too bad that they're so cheap for other years and so expensive for ours. There like 5 times more expensive. I'll have to see if I can find a good used one.
And yes, I'm near Syracuse. My local Pick N Pull has about a dozen Subarus. Mixture of first gens and second gens. I think one EJ18, one EJ25 and about 10 EJ22's.
