Need a throttle body on the cheap

Post by 90subbie »

Hey all, I got a 1990 with a bad throttle body. Cleaning it helps, but only temporarilly.
Money is an issue and I'm looking for a good used throttle body.

Some are listed on ebay, but I don't know if there's any difference in MT vs Auto throttle bodies.
Help me get my subbie back to prime running condition.

AT vs. MT should not be different. There are slight differences among the first generation years... none are significant.

I have on off a 91... it might not be any good though, let me go look at it.
Cheers,

I've got one that appears to be good. The throttle plate opens and closes smoothly and everything else seems OK. It's not the prettiest in the world though... $20 shipped.
Cheers,

spokane won't happen. no time nor gas money.

fishbone79 pretty is no concern. functional is the important thing. just ain't idleing right now, even after cleaning, better, but not right. so if it works thats the big thing. I'll be emailing you.

If it is not idling correctly it seems that you should be looking at you idle air control. Maybe you have and I missed it.

Josh was saying something about a coated in the early intakes that could create idling issues if cleaned!

Otherwise ya look at the IAC.

replaced the IAC this last weekend. pretty much narrowwed down to throttle body.

Coating? I know nothing of coating, but was very careful cleaning and used proper product so as to not make things worse. and it helped, just not enough.
