Auto Shutoff Reading Light w/Dimmer

I have a lot of sleeping problems. It's usually not sleeping long enough but sometimes I have trouble getting to sleep in the first place.

I found out that if I read in a dim setting or in bed I tend to fall asleep after only a few pages.

I actually found out that an original assumption I had up until last year was wrong. I have never been able to sleep a whole night with the light on. I can manage to fall asleep after a long time of laying in bed with the light on but it'll only be for an hour or two and I'll wake up and turn it off. So I always thought it was because my eyes can still sense the light through my eyelids and it was preventing me to get into REM sleep. Turns out, that's not the case.

My girlfriend bought me a set of books that I loved as a kid and I read through all 4 of them in a row, night after night in bed. Several times I woke up 8 hours later with the book on me and the light still on! That means subconciously my brain knew the light was still on when I actually tried sleeping with it on and it wouldn't let me sleep through the night with it on the whole time. But when I fell asleep reading and wasn't aware that I had fallen asleep with the light on, my brain was fooled and allowed me to sleep the whole night with it on.

Anyways, I started this thread to see if anyone used a light with a timer that automatically shut off after a set amount of time. I was thinking this would be cool to have so I don't waste electricity while I'm sleeping. I also thought it would be cool to have one that slowly dimmed itself down after the set amount of time instead of just shutting off because that might actually wake me up if it just turns off.

I found a cool gadget that you screw into your light socket and screw the bulb into it that allows you to turn a dial and set the timer for auto shutoff but it doesn't dim down slowly, just shuts off. Still cool, nonetheless.
