Tire recommendations?

Post by Smithcraft »

I saw an older thread from about three years ago. If there is a new thread, please let me know, otherwise -

I'm planing on keeping the stock tire size for now, and I live in a rainy area.

So I'm looking for a good all season tire that might have to deal with snow for a week once or twice a year. If I would need to chain up, that would be fine too. I've become very proficient with the Les Schwab chains! I can chain up my Lincoln in under ten minutes!

I have Conti Extreme Contacts on my Lincoln and I think they are awesome, but they don't seem to make them in the Subaru's stock tire size. :(

So, what say you?

I'm EXTREMELY happy with the Bridgestone RE960 A/S Pole Positions that I bought specifically just for this rainy/snowy/icy season.

They don't appear to be made in the 185/70R14 size, and the closest size is the 195/60R14, but I might still give it a look see.

I have Kumho Solus KR21's. They are pretty damn good in the snow, and treadwear isn't all that bad.
It appears they have them in the size you are looking for as well.

I ended up going with Michelin X Radials which are only sold at club type stores.

Unfortunately, I needed to get them and missed out on the rebate which would have been a free tire, by two weeks :?

So far the aren't too bad, but I'm still learning how nice it is to have the All We'll Drive system, so I still dealing with two changed variables on a new to me car.
