Off the top of my head, and without searching, I have two relevant beliefs
There is no such engine code as EJ20T, and so we will probably guess that the engine that this transmission was paired to is an EJ20G
I believe that if the gearbox was imported attached to a JDM engine the odds of the ratio being 3.90:1 are low, which means the odds that it will mate with your differential are low.
I will definitely mate with your motor, and so it will fit if you are willing to change your rear differential (if need be)
Also, if you do end up needing a different rear differential for it, the odds of finding one in a USDM Subaru are pretty Good, so that is no reason to be intimidated

That is a hysterical typo. I could not stop laughing at that one, sorry.Lunatech wrote:Typo or not????Dynamic Entry wrote: I will definitely mate with your motor, and so it will fit if you are willing to change your rear differential (if need be)
What is the TY number on the front of the tranny? That will tell you what rear diff it should be paired with. I may be able to look it up if I can find the blasted tranny chart I compiled a few years ago.

Is that the # off trans you found?? If it is, I think that's a first gen legacy turbo transmission (in which case FD should be 3.9). My chart says that one's a 3.9. but there is a "?" next to it. I'm pretty sure that number is 1993 MY though, so 3.9 would be correct.
Now that I've written all that, I realize you must have given me the # off the transmission you're trying to replace...
The TY number of the trans you are looking at buying will tell you what you need to know.

Ok well it says right there the final drive is 4.11. That means you will need to also find a 4.11 rear dif. In order to make that trans work. Those can be found on certain impreza models from the 90's I believe.

They aren't 500 for a stock unit. More like 100 at the junkyard. Of course if you want a quality limited slip you could spend around 1000. Search around.

Ha. I have a 4.111 if you need it. I couldn't get rid of the thing a few months ago. Let me know if you want it.
And yes, I forgot to mention, that TY number you gave is definitely USDM, not JDM.
