It varies depending on driver but you can expect around 16sec.

Really! I thought they run low-mid 15's. I was at the local strip and
and the WRX's were running mid 14's, stock! Which is good enough to
blow away most cars that show up including all those pesky civic's

stock 1/4 mile times?
Claimed by subaru. I would’nt mind getting on the strip and seeing if it is true. But I think I don’t wont the expence of replacing drive line components. I did have a run with a Ford Falcon XR6 one night, and lets just say ge won’t ever run another Liberty. The Falcon is a 4lt 6 cylinder with 164kw, rear wheel drive manual, and 1569kg (spec from Motor mag. The quarter mile time is what they pulled). They pull a 15.26 quarter. I polverised him. He did try to. Wheel spin the lot (not much though so he got a good start).

Hi Douglas,
You have an Liberty right? They did come stock with an air/water IC?
How much HP does your car have with the 2.0 Turbo? Does the IC add any
power or is it mostly a peventative measure against detonation when
you up the boost? Also does your liberty have flared side
skirts(little flares right next to the wheel wells)? Are they stock?
Thanks,
Mark

Are longer gears better or worse for drag? Would that mean you would
have to shift less frequently? Also Adam, I heard that our legacy's
have more robust gearboxes compared to WRX's, is that true? WRX's are
great, but after driving one I find them quite sluggish when driving
at low power settings ie around town, whereas the EJ22T has much more
low end snap. Ideally I'd find an RS or WRX w/o an engine and drop in
a EJ22T.

wrx's are a 2 litre turbo. wimpy until you spool the
turbo. once you do, that little engine is a rocket.
our larger displacement and peak torque at lower rpms
make for better city driving, but once the wrx gets
into its rev range, its gone. Excuse me? manual
legacy has 4.10 gears. thats crrrazy low gearing for
stock. Low gears are better for drag racing, but at
high speeds the rpms are kinda high, so while it does
give you passing power at 70 mph in 5th, the fuel
economy suffers. Maybe the gearing is different for
you turbo legacy people...
there are yards to say about turboes and gearing, but
id prefer you guys find an article to read so i dont
have to type it. lemme know if i need to.
this is my first post. welcome me to the group.

You lost me on the flares. Yes it has a air/water intercooller standard. It's a little under 200hp 147kw. I recon that it does have more horse power with the IC. I have touched the radiator for the IC and it is as cold as the south pole after a big caining.

Yep the RS is the same. There is nothing until 3000rpm. After 3500rpm they pull all the way to 7000rpm with out a drama. I have hit the rev limiter in second alot of times. early WRX's are very similar to the RS but as the years went by the turbos got smaller to spool up earlier. The draw back was it run out of puff in the high rev range. I was talking to someone the other day and they would have rather spent under $20000 for an RS, Then spend $40000 on a WRX. Reason was that he was sick of being beaten by RS's. I personally think he was not driving it hard enough.

Wow, the stock liberty RS has just under 200 HP stock, and runs 10.8
pounds of boost. Theats pretty good. Our US spec Legacy Turbos have
160 HP and run 8.7 Pounds of boost Stock. I'm gonna IC my car! Any
body differences between the two?

I see you are still trying to find out about the flared rocker panels on
the Liberty RS. I mailed you a lengthy (and belated) reply off group a
while ago but as you are still asking, I assume you didn't get it. This
is basically what I wrote:
I've noticed most if not all US/Canadian spec cars don't seem to have
them. All the Liberty RS's we got in Oz had them and I think also Europe
and NZ. Your front bumpers look the same as ours ie with the fog lights
and small lip at the bottom but you have nothing down the sides or on
the rear bumper.
The side panels or flares look to be made of fibreglass and are
essentially a bolt-on item, but they require several holes all the way
down the side of the door sills for mounting. On mine the holes look to
have been drilled/stamped in the factory ie before the car was painted
so I wouldn't like to be drilling holes there myself unless I was sure I
could protect the metal from rust properly. The rear is just a 2 piece
plastic extension on an otherwise stock bumper and would be reasonably
easy to fit. The Dream Legacy bumper you referred to a while ago looks
stock to me. There are also some big rubber mudflaps available that are
specific to cars with these bumper/sill extensions.
Personally, I think they look pretty cool but there is a drawback. They
collect huge amounts of mud and dirt and I regularly have to remove and
clean around them to keep the rust at bay. There's virtually no such
thing as snow here in Oz, and where there is snow, we don't put salt on
the roads that I'm aware of. I imagine this could be an issue for you if
it snows a lot where you are, and is maybe why US/Canadian spec cars
didn't get them in the first place.
I've attached a pic of an Aust spec Liberty where you can see the flares
(no mudflaps). Also, if you look at my Yahoo profile (boostwagon) there
is a picture of an Aust RS Wagon with mudflaps.
Where do you get them? Don't know sorry. I bought a full set of mudflaps
from Subaru Australia for AUD$350.00 and you could probably get the
other bits (new) from them as well but it would be a pretty expensive
exercise, even allowing for our crap exchange rates:
roughly US$1.00 = AUD$0.55
There seem to be a lot more BC-BF GT Legacies in New Zealand and as a
result, more 2nd hand parts available through dismantlers. Some of them
are happy to ship parts to Aust so possibly to Canada as well. Try doing
an advanced seach on Google for 'subaru parts' and restrict it to .nz
only. Here are a few I found:

Hope this helps
