Might look at a 94 turbo wagon for $800, supposedly, the trans works in manual shift mode, but not regular mode. Any thoughts on likely causes of this issue and what it might take money-wise to fix it? I kind of want to buy it just for the motor and parts, but am interested in keeping it on the road as well.
Thanks

Can you elaborate what you mean by manual shift mode?
Are you physically moving the gear selector to shift gears, or pressing the manual button?
The manual button does not do what you most likely think it does. Here's some info on the manual button.

I'm not entirely clear, he made it sound like with the manual button pushed, it worked, but in "sport" mode it did not. I was kind of thinking along the same lines as you, I asked if it was drivable on the highway, and he said yes. I'll look at the other thread to try and learn some more.
