another dohc head Q's thread!@

Post by altron32 »

i got a ej22t block from a local pull-a-part for 90$ :-D .
i work for a suby deal in kirkland, wa and landed a set of ej25d heads and intake complete off a bad motor we replaced for a customer that wanted a junkyard motor swaped in that had no core :-D .

so my Q is what parts do i need ie pistons, head gaskets, to run a good C/R for a turbo build with a tdo4 and a sti top mount.

btw this is going in my 90' L wagon 5mt.

ive searched and searched but my Q has not been answered fully.

I searched ej25d compression ratio and came up with this link.

Here's an excellent one for finding CR in different combinations, found by searching for compression calculator:

Have fun reading/building!

cometic head gaskets you pick how think, i all ways use stock thickness .051".

if i where you to save cost, same pistons new rings new bearings all around. clean it really good, rebuild block to stock oem.

then use those heads, td04 is small wont blow nothing up.

wow! thanks for the help guys! i guess my searching skills are sucky! that answered all my questions!

i plan on building this motor for lots of power, for later down the road, go over kill just one time. need to find some good rods, and get some good bearings, i know of good brands but not shure where to get them through.

the heads will get cleaned up by my local machine shop, resurfaced and have new guides installed. cams will go to delta to get some good grinds on them for a turbo setup, need to call them after the holidays and talk to scott over there, guess he is the man over there.

get the long block togeather with all my random used free parts over the years on it, and start mocking up the turbo setup on an engine stand.

after that it will be time to put the wagon under the knife

The combustion chambers should be the same between ej22t and ej25d heads - 46.6 cc's. Your CR will remain the same after the swap, unless you change the HG thickness.

so what your saying is that change in c/r is in all in the pistons between the 2 motors, interesting............i thought the 25d heads were bigger....in need to do a diy cc chamber test ;-)
