2002 WRX Lowering Springs Rear Fitment ?s

Post by smh0101 »

Alright... So I have some super low mile OEM Legacy Turbo Struts and was going to put some B&G Loweing Springs for a WRX on them and run those...

I've noticed something... The WRX Rear Strut assembly doesnt have an upper spring perch... the spring rests on the bottom of the top hat...

So will the WRX rear top hats bolt on to the Legacy chassis?

90-91 or 92-94 chassis?

The 92-94 chassis is a possibility they'll fit. The 90-91 chassis I'd say no.

Not trying to be a dick here, I don't know the answer, but just find the suspension threads and see what the people who swap in WRX suspension have to do. If they have to swap the stock top hats over then it won't fit, if they don't then it should fit fine.

I know it wouldn't work on a 91, as I had to swap over my top hats, but I can't speak for 92-94

Another thing to consider is the reason they don't fit on 91s is one of the bolts is slightly off, some people have remedied this by grinding the hole to fit.

Well I've been searching through the damn suspension forums for the last few days and cant get a clear answer... I used to have a WRX strut/spring assembly on my 93 but I wasnt the one who installed it... and it lifted the suspension dramatically...

I'm wondering if the reason that everything got lifted was because the installer used the legacy rear spring perch and top hat when the stock wrx stuff doesnt have that spring perch...

Oh ok, sorry. He definitely did something wrong if it lifted it dramatically, I have STi suspension currently on my 91 and it lifted the whole car maybe 1/4" max. I guess that's possible that's what he did. If it wasn't finals time right now I would help you search :/

Anyway I should probably leave this thread alone since I can't really give you any real answer to this beyond speculation. GL
