My Duty C problems, not normal

Post by jrobewesty »

The car, 93 Postal wagon 151k.

The problem, no AWD, no codes, can stop the rear wheels with my hand, (on the hoist)

So, I assume the rear clutch pack is shot.

I pull off the rear housing and switch clutch packs with a known working one. With the housing off I put 12v to the Duty C and heard it click.

Put it back together and have AWD plus torque bind and code 24 fore the Duty C.

Anyone know what to check next?

I have a feeling if I switch the tail housing with my last known working one I'm going to get the same code.

I'd start by checking all the wiring/sensor.

Disconnect the transmission plug in the engine bay and check the resistance of the duty c solenoid to see if it's in spec.

Sounds to me like you fixed the original problem but burnt (or left disconnected), your duty "c" solenoid.

Well after checking the output of the TCM I am getting no voltage between terminal #3 and #10 with the FWD fuse in.

#10 is grounded so that wire is good.

The book says check the connector and or replace the TCM. The connection is good and I pulled a TCM from a 92(and confirmed it had voltage to #3 in the other car) and put it in and still no voltage.

If I left the connector on the Duty C off it should still show voltage out of the TCM, right?

The power light never flashed till I put the new clutch pack so I can't really see what could of happened.

Where do I go from here???

hmmmm. kinda weird i guess. i guess you might see a signal with the b33 plug out. what does it show when you have the fwd fuse out, car "on", but not started, and put it in first gear and put the gas pedal all the way down. you should see at less than a half volt signal coming out of then TCU

with the car on, and fuse in you should see at least 9v. these things might help a little

check this out too: did it to my car:
