02-07 impreza wagon n/a 20 mm bars dont fit T-LEGS

02-07 impreza wagon n/a 20 mm bars dont fit

they rub the crossmember area where the uppipe is.
it's mentioned in our suspension sticky that they will fit.

the width is perfect. front endlinks are good however the 20 mm bushings do not fit in your stock sb bushing brackets. the bar may fit with proper bushing brackets because the much larger 20mm bushing will push the bar away from the crossmember

i am going to make all this fit it's just a matter of putting a nice dent in the crossmember plate. i used the 18mm bushings and i think it will work. maybe nicely because with 20mm bar the rubber bushings compress nicely.

the question i do have;

the stock swaybar bushing bracket housing is welded to the car. would i be able to put the 20mm brackets on the housing or are they not going to fit?

well it's in now, gotta go pick up a movie for the kids and we'll see how it works.

i used my 5" angle grinder and a zipcut to slice into the crossmember. but, i didnt cut the piece right out. i just cut 2 lines on both sides of the hump and hammered it in towards the uppipe.

somethings i noticed while i ran around with no fsb was bad hydroplaning, front end broke loose real easy, and more sway in the corners. i was afraid to push it to hard as i wasnt sure how the car would react.

gotta go

well, actually it's mentioned in the sticky that turbo and non-turbo bars are different, and that you MIGHT be able to put a non-turbo bar on a turbo.

either way thanks for the clairification

I had a non-turbo bar on my Legacy for a while. I had to seriously reef on the thing to get the bolt through, but it can be done. You just have to live with the bar squeaking against the crossmember when you go over bumps.

saw a picture today where someone cut those little metal parts that was stopping any other bushing from being used besides stock. i'll try to find the picture

my bad, i wasnt trying to be rude. i just thought we should edit that to say what it will take to make a n/a bar fit.

so i took it for a drive. it's raining here so pushing it too hard on my summer's wouldnt be a good idea. it felt really nice. firmed up and more responsive. i cant wait to really try it.

i must admit i pulled a dumb ass move. i left the 14mm on the endlink nut and in a parking lot making a slow hard left it went crunch crunch crunch. it only did it on full lock left turns

i was thinking the bar was rubbing the cross member, nope, it was the wrench rubbing my wheel. i drove like that for about 15km too

one thing i did notice while attempting to make the noise is it was with rotation of the wheel.

like crunch.......crunch.......crunch....

the wrench would have been still, i wonder if my wheel is out of round.

sicksti- thanks for the pic.

even then that 20mm bushing is a really tight squeeze, i tried it.i think i would have to cut the bushing too. and i wonder if it's safe to run without the tabs.
