Moving O2 sensor into the header?

Post by ImprezaRSC »

The O2 sensor in my rotated turbo interferes with my Laminova cooler unit. The bung is welded in the downpipe at the perfectly wrong angle for this . There's a bung further down the downpipe already and I *could* use that. But, I think the stock WRX location in the exhaust manifold might be better.

Can I relocate the O2 sensor pre-turbo and have it work as normal? I need to get one of these stock manifold pieces to make it fit. I just don't know if it will screw with anything in the ECU by moving it closer to the exhaust ports.

It's one of these stock pieces I'm referring to with a pre-cat o2 fitting.

There is going to be a difference in pressure between that position and stock. This could cause the O2 sensor to read differently.

wouldn't after the turbo be a tad bit leaner than before the turbo? Since a hot turbo would burn some unburnt gases?

No, the turbo shouldn't affect the actual AFR.
