Any gamblers?
Went to Foxwoods this weekend with my boss and had a blast.Played only blackjack and a couple slots, blackjack was the goal however.I spent a week or so before going studying strategy and went there looking like a pro compared to 90 percent of other players.I managed to make 200 last me well over 100 hands and had nearly 500 at one point.I did end up losing it all being stupid but no biggie, compared to my boss who literally threw 1600 away.
I know that i won at least 60 percent of all hands dealt and the only reason i came back empty is because of my boss coming over and being like "so your going big on this one right" and of course i step up and lose, but i really think i can make it work next time i just need a little more than what i had to work with and maybe come back happy next time, and i need to go alone!!!
Anyways it was REALLY fun and i always get hooked on things im good at (most players around me and the dealers were all impressed with my time on the table with pocket change @ $25 min. bet.) So just wondering if theres anyone else with the bug out there?

Not remotely, but my mother's dead ex-boyfriend used to treat Blackjack like an ATM and he always walked when he got up $800, which I think he did almost every time.
Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

Careful there. Not a good habit as lucrative as it may seem at times. Those people who you see win or the people you know who always seem to win or always talk about all the times they've won, aren't telling you about the times they lost. Trust me.
I deal cards and craps for a living. I've been a dealer for 3 years now and I've seen a lot of people ruining their lives there and losing homes and marriages. I'm sure some of them have probably even killed themselves because of gambling debt and stress. In fact, before I started working there a guy lost a lot of money, went out in his car and shot himself.
Just last night I watched a guy keep buying in 3 or 4 hundred at a time until at the end of my hour dealing to him he had burned through $1,300 cash and probably $500 chips which he had when I got there. And he was there my entire shift and I close the place and I'm sure he was there for hours before that. I looked over at his table hours earlier and he had a couple grand in chips, all gone by the time I got there.
Even if you knew how to count cards like a pro, it's only going to give you like a 1% edge on the house. And they'll catch you and ask you to leave and you won't ever be allowed to play there again.
These places have invested a hell of a lot of money and time coming up with the games they have to make sure they come out ahead in the end. Just keep that in mind.
That being said, if you think blackjack is fun you should try craps. Craps also has better odds if you know what you're doing. It's pretty simple if you take it one bet at a time when learning it and not try to learn it all in one sitting. Ignore the prop bets in the middle of the table, those are sucker bets and they'll only make it hard to learn. Stick with the passline with max odds and place bets. Don't play the field. Looks like a good bet because there's so many numbers you can win on but in reality there's 16 ways to win, 20 ways to lose.
Good luck man. I think if you really wanted to win money at gambling you should get good at poker and play online. There's a lot of people who make money online playing poker because there's so many people playing who aren't good.

i saw the title and knew you would jump on it Kimo haha.
I've only really played the slot machines. They are alot of fun, but you just gotta think, that machine is designed to take your money... and if you get lucky and win alot, you better not come back to that place because they will get it and much more back. I can't go to the closest casino anymore because they serve alcohol on the floor now.... 4 more months!!

I've never played a slot machine before. I've only gambled once before and it was craps.
The whole building is designed to take you money. Does a pretty good job too.

The one thing to remember, is never bring more money than you can afford to lose. If you have $200 you don't care about, and can walk out with nothing and still have had a good time, by all means do it, but never start expecting to win.
One of my best friends' mom divorced his dad because of gambling problems.
When I go, which I only did once, LOL, I just see it as entertainment, like I'm paying __ amount to be entertained, if I win then awesome!

That's definately true. If people could stick to that they'd be fine. But they almost never do. I hear it almost every day from the players and then watch those same players contradict their whole mission statement.
They say they play to have fun but they're not having fun. They're stressed and pissed off and bitching/swearing at me like I've got something to do with it.
They say they'll only bring in what they're willing to lose. Then after that they go to the ATM. After they hit their withdrawal limit for the day they go write a check.
The way I see it, it's just as bad as doing drugs. In fact, technically it probably is considered a drug for most. It's definately an addiction and people get sucked in and become powerless over it just like any other drug. There's a high associated with winning. It's exciting and gets your heart going. I found out what it's like to gamble from both perspectives and I understand how it's so addicting now.

Ok ruin all the fun then.So i shouldnt have quit my job and emptied all my bank accounts earlier? Im thinking maybe selling weed to fund the trips down there might be the way to go as well?

Selling weed is quite profitable, so long as you don't smoke it yourself. I'd rather sell weed than gamble.

Woah, lets not go that far, use the money from your bank accounts to just bet it all on black, that way you can have double the money!gijonas wrote:Ok ruin all the fun then.So i shouldnt have quit my job and emptied all my bank accounts earlier? yea, you can make ALOT of money off of selling if you know what your doing. Seen way too many high school buddies get completely screwed for it, and the other smoke and sell so make no profit haha. Not even worth the trouble to me.

I've seen how much pot dealers make and it's ridiculous. Just make sure you have a day job and just do it on the side but don't smoke it, waste of life. Makes you lazy and fat eventually. Just imagine if you grew your own and didn't have to buy it. All profit! Just about.
I guess it pretty hard to grow good weed though. But if you did and still had a job you'd only need to sell a small amount to make some good extra spending cash and the government would never know.

yea its crazy, if you bought a LB, and sold it all in like 1.6 dubs.... I don't even wanna think of how much profit that is, and like you said if you grew, thats sooooo much money, but it almost always eventually catches up to them
FUCK THAT! haha

As lame as it sounds my friend's and I used to gamble at home with change and we had a great time. None of us made much money, I think only me and one other friend was even employed back in high school.
The most anyone would ever win was maybe $30 but it was still a lot of fun and a lot of shit talkin.
I have $150 in quarters alone from saving them up and a year ago I gambled with some friends with change and kicked their asses lol.
