You mean the spring pin? There's two of them, an larger & smaller one. Do you need both?

Do you need the pin thing that goes through the shaft on the trans and holds the gold thing to the shaft?

You should mention what type of transmission you have.
I'm assuming you have an auto.
I still don't know exactly what you're talking about. There is a cable that comes from the shifter linkage that connects to the inhibitor switch. Which side of the cable has the pin? trans side or gear selector side?
If it's the pin I'm thinking of, it's connected to the cable, and you'd need a new cable, but I'm still not sure I'm thinking of the correct thing.

All I see in the parts book is the two bolts that hold the selector cable to the transmission, a washer, and a little clip.
If this clip is all you need, just go down to home depot or something, and pick one up.

Another tidbit of info:
There is indeed a drain plug washer for the manual transmissions, and it is NOT the same one as the one for the oil! I've heard a few people say that and it is incorrect.
I see that Phil mentioned the correct gasket once, and that's the only reference to it on the whole board.
The part number for the transmission drain plug gasket is 803926070 and I show list price at $2.87.

Are you sure they weren't referring to the auto drain plug? It's the same for 4eats. 5eats is different though.

You're right Hardy. I verified that the gasket/crush washer is the same for the 4EAT auto drain plug and the oil drain plug.
Good call!

Just in case you all want to replace your front control arms (maybe you have an alignment problem (my situation) or you have $700 you can blow for no good reason )...
All BC/BJ/BF and BD/BK/BG control arms supercede to these part numbers:
20200AC210F for the driver's
20200AC200F for the passenger's
Those list for $172.55 a piece.
These arms just come with the front bushing; the rear bushing must be purchased separately, and the BC/BJ/BF bushing part numbers come back obsolete, so you will also need to use BD/BK/BG rear bushings, which are 20201FA060 for the driver's (list is $100.82) and 20201FA050 for the passenger's (list is $90.73).
Now, those rear bushings will fit, but the back corner towards the inside and towards the rear might interfere with the crossmember during installation, you can grind a little bit off that corner and it should be easier to put on.
Everything else, you can get normal BC/BJ/BF parts.

Slow day at work. Going to wrap up some unanswered inquiries in the thread.
Turbos use same headgaskets left and right. Most recent is 11044AA282.
Front wheel bearings are posted already, 28016AA011NT. Front seals, however, are now 28015AA070 for the outer and 28015AA080 for the inner.
4WD rear wheel bearings are 28016AA030. Seals are 28015AA090 for the outer, and 28015AA100 and 28015AA110 for the inners, going from out to in.
2WD fronts are the same as the 4WD, but the 2WD rear hub contains the wheel bearing (no serviceable seals). 28063AA000NT is the non-ABS hub and 28063AA010NT is the ABS hub with tone ring.

There are two available types of motor mounts: standard rubber ones and original liquid-filled motor mounts.
The standard ones, 41022AA080, will transmit more engine vibration but are cheaper.
The smoother and costlier liquid-filled mounts are different from left to right. Those are 41022AC001 for the right side and 41022AC011 for the left side.

Re: Part number referrence needed
Just thought I'd add these part #'s to this thread. They are not in the parts book for the Legacy that I scanned. These are the aluminum gaskets for the oil gallery plugs. I've also included the part number for the larger of the oil gallery plugs. (The one that takes an allen key)
Oil Gallery Plug Gasket (large) - 037018200 (Qty. 6)
Oil Gallery Plug Gasket (small) - 037010200 (Qty. 2)
Oil Gallery Plug - 11024AA141
