Drilled a hole through the auto shift linkage bolt hole

Post by ericem »

Was drilling out a snapped bolt that is used to hold the shifter linkage in place against the tranny and I noticed after drillign it out with a tiny tiny drill bit that some tranny fluid was dripping when I tipped the tranny sideways. I am hoping it wasn't a part of the transmission with alot of pressure, but would some red locktite in the hole and all over the bolt help seal it? It doesn't seem like aplace where it pressurizes as its just about where the valve body is. I will get a pic. Hopefully I don't need another tranny :(

Did some searching on nasioc and saw what it looks like behind the pan. It appears it is a open spot of the transmission so i am assuming there is no pressure in the area. Ill just put the red locktite says it should seal.

I say you should take the pan off and clean up any metal that fell in. Also clean up the magnet stuck to the pan

should hold up, but remember auto fluid is a detergent and it might break it down over time. best bet is to take it off and use some jb weld. or a spot weld to seal it.

Is it in the car? If not, a mig with some Al wire will blob a goober into it that should hold. If you don't have a machine, a welding shop would charge $10 for that. You could also tap threads into the tiny hole and put in a tiny, short machine screw with tefloseal on the threads....
