I don't think there is as much pressure on the return side as there is on the inlet, or I got damn lucking as it didn't leak a drop. You don't need to use silicone for this, rubber hose is just fine. I usually put the hose on the turbo first and lower it down lining the tube up with it, push slightly and it goes right on. Silicone is gonna be softer and bend easier than rubber so it will probably be a bitch with silicone hose.
Glad to hear it's working out todd, it'll be nice to have that feedback on the td05 over td04, im liking 17 psi but want more.

as for the silicone hose, it's your choice. but remember, the stock ones contain silicone for a reason. the guy who swapped in my dad's td05 on the 92 used rubber and after about a year he had to have his mechanic take the turbo off to replace the line. rubber doesnt do well with oil and heat. the lines will buldge and swell and eventually breakdown. probably not a good thing to have little pieces of rubber in your oil.

I apologize for not being more clear in my post. I figured since we were talking about an oil hose, the rubber hose used would be compatable with oil/gas. All rubber hose is not created equal, there is different hose for different applications and fluids. From my experience, when coolant hose is used for an oil/gas application like the pcv system, it will degrade in a similar fashion as you described. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING HEATER HOSE AS OIL LINE. Even though silicone is far superior to rubber in almost everyway, it does not make rubber obsolete. When the right rubber hose is used for the right application it will provide a fairly long service life. I apologize for being unclear, in the future I will try harder to be more descriptive.
