Please excuse the horrible pics.

As soon as I saw the exhaust, DOHC heads, and empty space for a coilpack, I knew something was up.

I know it's a JDM motor (inspection sticker on timing cover)... is this a high-CR EJ254 N/A?

If so, the price I was quoted much complicates my restoration :x

My first guess was also JDM 2.5 NA before reading your text. The "torque box" also seems to point in that direction.

How much do you think it's worth Ciper?

The current plans are to do a Frankenmotor EJ25 with EJ22 heads, but if this is cheap enough, I may change my mind.

What's the CR? About how much HP?

If its already high cr then why would you take the dohc heads off for a head that doesnt flow well at all?

This would be in lieu of the Frankenmotor. I would just swap this in as-is.

The appeal of the Frankenmotor, though, is that I essentially don't have to rewire anything. I'll be using my original heads, sensors, and harness, and probably just swap to an Impreza EJ18 ECU.

With this, I would have to do a lot of wiring... which I confess to not being so good at.

But I would have nearly as much money in the Frankenmotor as this would cost, but probably with less power.

So, once again, I'm torn.

Make sure the CR isn't too high. The CR on the high rpm EJ20 I was trying to find out about would be too much for me to be comfortable feeding it the shit US gas.

Do you just have 91 octane up there Steve?

We have 93, and while we both have our reservations about ethanol, the E10 that's pretty much statewide in FL would help too.

I still think I'm leaning toward the Frankenmotor, as I like the idea of being able to undo the whole thing if I have to.
