That's what all my friends said. I think it's like B-17 pilots preparing for a raid on a ball-bearing factory thinking they're going to make it back alive—telling themselves it's only the other poor schlub that gets it. I'm more one to shrug and figure I'm one of the schlubs, placing bets with myself for amusement on whether it would be flak, fighters, or accident that gets me. That's why I prefer something more exotic.
Always love the interiors, though.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

If you haven't heard/discovered it yet, check out motorgeek.com. Very similar to this board in breadth of knowledge and tune to the older models, but a little bit snobbier... Before I learned my lesson on Audis that was the only place where I could solve some of my problems.
I'm certainly not trying to bash your purchase - my comments were tongue-in-cheek, from experience.

Definately should get some nice black wheels on that thing. Along with that same grill but without the audi badge in the middle and make that black too.
That's what I would do lol but I'm sure everyone's taste isn't like mine. I'm all about black wheels and clean debadged cars. Also a big hater of the chrome. Anything chrome.

No, I know. I totally appreciate the feedback from someone who has had experience with this make. Thanks for the forum recommendation!fishbone79 wrote:If you haven't heard/discovered it yet, check out motorgeek.com. Haha I think I'm gonna find some nice BBS' or some bronze Work Emotion Cr Kais. I can't decide.kimokalihi wrote:Definately should get some nice black wheels on that thing. Along with that same grill but without the audi badge in the middle and make that black too.

Also, I'm gonna black out a lot of it. I just have to figure out which parts should be blacked out. I'm also not a fan of chrome on cars, but usually it's the older, cheaper cars with chrome to 'dress it up' that I don't like.
Haha thanks on both compliments! It would beat the SS, but I don't think by too much.Mattheww044 wrote:damn! that thing is sexy, I honestly still think your SS is sexier though. How does it pull compared to the SS?

All this talk of 'pulling' on one or the other. How does it handle vs. the SS? My brother, who wrecked a '93 S4 on a back-road, would probably have an opinion on that.
Nice car, though. Should make a good highway cruiser. Comfortable, for sure.

There's a touch more body roll than the SS, but to be honest, it really doesn't' handle badly at all. The suspension is definitely softer (which is a nice change), but the car seems surprisingly confident around corners. It DOES have an electronic stability program, so that may have something to do with it...

Well I am sure glad you are still staying with us. You should definately look into buyin another SS for a project car once you get this beast the way you like it (although you can never really "stop" modding it and doing shit to it
)

1991 Subaru Legacy SS 5MT: Revtronix Stage 2 Set-up with a few other "tasteful" mods :D
Once I have this thing totally paid off, I'll look into it I think.
I definitely miss my Leggy, but this thing is pretty awesome, so it makes losing my Leggy a bit easier. Haha.

Yes, very nice ride man.
I have a weakness for the S4 avant - and have had dreams of RS4 turbos, better IC's, and the like for a torque monster of a family wagon... but I have a japanese car for a reason
Here (1mile over sea level), I've seen slightly modded S4's of this vintage run 98mph traps (well modded ~113), and stock STi's run 98-100. Not sure what a stock S4 would run... maybe 94-95? Not to far apart in traps, probably really close on the hwy.
My friend had an stock S4 just like yours, and when I had the stock VF11 (@12psi) I would hang with him through 2nd gear from a dig. When I installed the VF12 (still @12psi) I would slightly gain through 2nd gear, and hold on through 3rd, then he'd pull away. 1/8mi racing is where it's at with the SS
His tranny blew (remember stock car) and it cost him $4500 for repair (with a service industry discount - he's a Subaru service tech). He fixed it and bought an '05 LGT.
No digs on your ride (and how many wrx tranny's have blown?!?!?! haha- LOTS) - I LOVE them, and think they are ultra sexy and have great powerbands. Just watch for issues like a hawk.
