Front Strut bar...

Post by Redlined »

Well..... I made a bit of an investment. Made a late night find and couldnt count on a reply from the board in time to make the purchase. All my research pointed to our cars being able to use GC Imprezas Front strut brace, the only possible issue being the intercooler.

What about.... a strut bar from a GC that HAD an intercooler?

Please tell me I'm not a complete moron.

I know the GC fits... I had one on my 93 Leg wagon.

But Im not sure about the GC with a intercooler... I think it depends on how the bar sits in the engine bay...I have one on my 92 SS that comes out over the throttle body which will allow me to run a TMIC

I can try and get some pics

here's a picture of an STi strut tower. No intercooler but if you could shorten the clutch reservoir and get the IC to sit as low as possible then it could possibly fit.

true that. I tried fitting a wrx one on mine and i think it would have worked but i couldn't get it to sit low enough because of that damn clutch reservoir. People cut the top off of them to get IC to fit, i would personally go and try to find the new style that is off set towards the driver side.

mines pretty much shaped like that bar above but instead of going towards the fire wall it bends out over the throttle body...and im almost 99% sure itll work.

If no one else has a pic of a tmic with a strut bar that works ill take mine off and put it on my buddies SS that already has a tmic installed and get a pic so than im 100% sure haha

Try to get the front facing bar. It goes over the intake manifold near the coil pack. Makes intercooler fitment WAY EASIER

Check my pics, I have a GC STI bar, but with the 06 intercooler, it rubs just a little bit on the corner.

Sadly, I ended up taking it off, and have not taken the time to find a solution yet. But it was like 1 cm off.

The bar I bought is the same as the one in Logan9691's Pic. GC carbon Fiber bar. It looks to be a close fit, but I think I can get it in there. I realy realy want to use that bar. Not sure why. but I do.

Cant wait till I have time to play under the hood again.
