Just so you know, if NAPA has it, you don't have to wait until Saturday to get it. Your welcome, I always try to be helpful.

Hahaha! What I meant was, they shouldn't be hard to find. NAPA(not exactly known for it's mind-boggling array of foreign parts) had one readily available on a Saturday(the only day that I could get into the shop I used to work at to mount some tires and change out axles.) Shouldn't be a problem to find!

from my searching on the forum...it looks like everyone says to steer clear of the autozone, advance auto, etc to get dependable axles???

Yeah, I've never been big on Advance or Autozone. The parts never seemed as good a quality as NAPA's (especially for US cars). What we couldn't get from NAPA while I worked at the shop, we got from BAP GEON(mainly foreign). But then again, I was raised to only buy American and when it came too tools for the shop=buy Snap-On and buying tools for the house=buy Craftsman. A Klein (again, made in the USA) electrician's screwdriver saved my life a few years back while hanging pictures in a house that had been incorrectly wired , so needless to say I'm kind of a prick when it comes to parts & tools. That wagon is serious, so why buy parts for it from a store that sells Tweety-bird floormats and stick-on chrome tribal flames and "vents". Sorry for the rant...

No, no, thank you very much for the input. I appreciate any help that I can get. I'm going to search some more stuff today and probably give cvaxles.com a call.

You can always get axles from CCR engines. They professionally rebuild subaru engines only and they also sell rebuilt subaru axles.

I bought a pair from them and they were really nice until I let them sit for a year nearly hanging from my hubs and the boots were torn after I finally got around to putting an engine in.

Kimo, thank you very much for the advice. I ordered an axle this morning from cvaxles.com....it should be here by Monday.

I will keep the other place in mind for a later upgrade! :-D

I just moved to Phoenix this past week. I have been debating it for a while now and decided to make the move in order to start a career and go back to school.

I visited Phoenix probably 3 times before I thought about it, but I am so happy I did this. I packed up everything I could in my wagon and drove 31 hours (2071 miles). My wagon now has 218,1xx miles on her. My 20 year old car made it across the country with no problems! I love this car so much! I probably had at least 1000-1500 pounds of stuff in the back and I was averaging 26 mpg from the mountains of VA all the way to the deserts and mountains of AZ! I am so impressed with this car and wanted to pass this along to my Subaru brethren.

I got here this past Friday and now the job hunt begins....

I have a few leads but nothing definite.

I wanted to tell all of you of my adventure across the country in the wagon and of my testament to loving this Subaru!

She was very dirty after the long trip. I changed the oil and gave her a bath today. Here she is at her new home in AZ!

Wow that is one heck of a long trip! I would never doubt doing such a trip in my Subaru though regardless of the age of the car :) Subaru = <3

I didn't doubt her, but if you think about it, that is pretty damn impressive with the age, miles, and all of the extra weight in the car. It was so loaded down, that the new rear suspension was almost bottomed out!

Yeah, they do pretty well on cross-country trips. I've got around 9 2000-3000 mile trips across country in mine. It's been all over the country. PA to WA and back a couple times. PA to TX, TX to WA, and TX to CA

She's done alright on all the trips and a couple I had her loaded down with everything I owned.....there was no reclining of the seats....which sucked.

haha I feel you there...i brought a set of WRX wheels and tires to put on her legacy and I had one right behind my seat! it was the only other place it would fit!

That is awesome you have had yours on long trips like that as well. These cars continue to impress me.

When I drove mine across country, I wanted to make it back and forth without cleaning it, but the car was so disgusting with caked-on bugs when I got to CA that the headlights and fogs (same as yours and in the same place, but only 2 of them) barely glowed through it, so I had to wash it. Even the older Subarus were good for trips (even if the seats weren't as good). Drove to Detroit and back for school with the '84 GL overloaded with stuff and running near redline in top gear for hours on end without issue or complaint. I'd think twice about either trip with my 105k mile Mazda 3 (not to mention the seats are absolute shit after more than a few hours).

Yeah.....in Montana, my mom and I drove 100+ mph for a good 50 miles straight. I think I topped the car out around 130 or 140. That was when I was FWD AT

Yeah, I had to literally scrape the bugs off every fuel stop. I drove in August. Don't know what huge-ass bugs I was hitting throughout most of the Midwest as I only saw the splat and the long streak that would stretch down near the entire roof, but I'd rather leave it to my imagination—a biblical plague of locusts I was allowed by the hand of god to pass through because I'm meant to conquer the world.

I conceived my Dante Project novel series on that journey.

New shoes on the ride....08 Legacy Wheels/Tires

What does everyone think? I think I like the look more so than the Gold WRX wheels.
