Turbo leak smoking really bad.

Post by legacy<man »

ive search and searched but cant find anything. today i started smelling almost burnt hair coming from my car. It looks like my turbo is leaking from one small bolt of some sort the goes into in to it. I never noticed it before this mourning. im still getting plenty of boost tho. and at the same time i went to excelerate and its not shifting out of 2nd i believe its just high lining.

motor runs great and my temp guage didnt go above halfway.

btw its a 1992 legacy sport. with a auto. has 191,000 on it.

Can you see any oil on the up pipe?

Its pretty common for the oil outlet pipe to leak oil, mine did. That and my valve cover leaked.

Its all on here somewhere

Heres a couple ^ but cant be sure this is your problem.

Can you narrow down the location? Which bolt?

huh? Like a coolant line bolt? oil line bolt?

Anyway you could get a pic?

Try cleaning the area you think may be leaking and see if it comes back.

if you think its just a bolt thats leaking than you can replace the copper washers on both sides of the banjo bolt. If that doesnt fix the leak, its somewhere else.

take the picture, upload it to your computer, go to tinypic.com and upload from your computer, and copy/paste the "message board and forum" link on to a new post. that will help us know where it exactly is coming from.

Anywhere that sells copper washers I suppose, haha. Uh I think when I got mine I looked at Napa and Schucks/O' Reillys and they didnt have them.

I had to go to a place called "House of Hose" in spokane which is a hydraulic hose place.

If all else fails you can get them at the dealer.
