You can't do that. The transmission clutch types are different. The 2.2 turbo trans uses a pull type clutch setup, while the 2.5 n/a uses a push style clutch setup.

To my knowledge they are not interchangable.

ok i may have worded the op incorrectly

what i mean to say is that i have a EJ2.5 in the car now using a 22t flywheel and clutch assembly the 22t flywheel and clutch are a smaller size then the ej25 setup yess ?!?

the 22t clutch has burnt up , i m wanting to change up the size to a larger diameter flywheel - clutch

if i go wrx ej25 that is a pull-type clutch, do i need the wrx starter for the ej25 or will the one for the 22t that i have now mate with the larger diameter flywheel ?

The actual outer diameter of the 2.2 flywheel should not be any different when compared to the 2.5. The surface mating area of the clutch is what is smaller/larger.

With that said, you should be fine with your existing starter.
