1993 Legacy ss 5mt
Ive decided to sell my legacy after this last issue. I blew the headgasket. I took the heads off got them machined, ported and polished and painted with high temp paint. We put the car back together with all new felpro gaskets and hoses. The car turns over and fires but it will not run. My buddy said that the cam sensor looks damaged and wanted me to buy a new one.I went to the subaru dealer and they said it would be 396$. I dont have the money to put into the car so im just going to sell it..The car is not running. It is a very clean ss and has very clean interior and body. The car has around 167***.. im asking best offer..and for my fastest response email me.. nicv217@aol.com

You might want to rethink that whole "rarity" thing...;) Doesn't fly here... Everyone in here has at least one, and most folks have parted out a few to boot.

your not to far away. so I have a few questions for youi. have you checked for spark while cranking the motor. are you getting pressure in the gas line into the filter. feel it when you first try to start the car. it will beat a few times.

if it is a cam gear you need let me know which one and I will check. should have it up state. was the motor running with all the other items on the motor. or had they been added after the cam gear broke.

you may want to check the timing marks on the crank and the cam gears. they should all point up. the one for the crank is the one to be sure about. there is a small notch but it is off set to the right if I remember correctly. that is only a tooth. so you may just want to check to be sure.

subie's usually are good starters. if you would get back to me we can try to get it started.

holla back at me. even willing to come out to you to help if you need. cost you price of gas. oh yea can bring cam gear if you like.

be well, Bepa

I'd be willing to bet the timing belt was incorrectly installed. What mark was used to line up the belt on the crank pulley? It's an all too common mistake!

Also, check your codes to be sure. If the cam sensor is bad, your car will tell you!

there is no links per say on the cam sensors. just go to ur local auto stores, (u may need to check several different ones). also if they dont have it try the junkyard.

im still having a hard time grasping the dealer would charge 400 bucks for a common sensor. try a different dealer.

okay sorry I said a cam gear when it is a cam sensor you need. I have one of these also. glad to hear your keeping the car. they are sweet. plus the list of parts is pretty long. why give up on it.

liked the list of parts you have in and on it as well.

let me know if you are interested in it. oh yea any cam sensor from a 2.2 should work. but to be on safe side stay with a 1990 - 1994 2.2. does not matter what body style you get one from either.

be well, Bepa
