sloppy shifter ?

My 91 awd 5 speed turbo has 282,000 miles on it. The shifter is quite sloppy. What can I do to fix this problem? I found a 2003 WRX shifter, will this fit my 5 speed?

I have just replaced my shifter bushings in my Legacy and it was not a fun experience. Refer to my thread "My Legacy is incapacitated" in the Misc forum (it still is too :evil: ). Some people suggest that it is actually pretty easy, I say they're smoking something :lol: Not a fun job, nor is it a 2-hour one...

Can I just replace the shifter with a good one? If so, is it easy to change complete shifters? I thought maybe someone new where I could buy a good used shifter cheap.
