That's a new feature I like it, since I usually look at every post. The old board and a lot of others, including vbb use cookies to set the new posts status. The new phpBB software allows this feature to be kept in the database. So you can leave and come back and still see all the new posts.
If you don't want to read every post, there is a "mark topics read" link at the top right of each forum. Apparently this style does not have a general "mark all forums read". I'll get with Dave to see if it's something we can add.
Yeah that's one of the few things I don't like. The width of the forum. The old forum filled the whole window no matter how big it was. Which was nice. I have a 22" widescreen monitor 16x10 running 1680x1050 so it's pretty narrow.
Small complaint though. The rest is pretty much gravy though.
Great job! Thanks

I've noticed that the forum no longer unmarks all of the unread threads hours after I leave the forum like the old one did. I don't see an option in the preferences either. Is there an internal setting for this? clicking the 'mark all forums read' link each day gets tiresome.
A "return to previous forum" or folder tree would be helpful at the bottom of the posts as well. I cant recall, but I'm pretty sure the old board had this. I find myself having to scroll back up to the top now to leave each post. Hitting the back button on the browser leaves the post marked as unread.
Just an FYI if you didn't already know
Thanks,
Mike

How about opening posted links i.e.: e-bay, nasioc, greddy, in a new tab or window automatically? That way the bbs will still be open while the other page is loading.

eh clicking the middle mouse button on the link is easy enough.

not being able to use the back button on my browser within the forum is pretty annoying. what is the reason for that? is there any way to make it work? if Im halfway down a long page and dont want to read any more i have to scroll all the way up or all the way down instead of just hitting back. tell me how this is an upgrade from the old forum.
That feature I believe is a feature of new software. I agree, I do not like it either. It's very annoying. I don't think it can be changed unless there was some serious hacking of the php code.
As an alternative, you can hit the home key, and that will bring you back to the top of the thread.

That's odd, both the back button, and the keyboard commands work for me.

I browse the forum a lot at work, but I don't have my login saved.
When I want to reply to a post, I hit the reply button and it asks me to login.
I login... and while the old forum took me to the reply screen, this new one takes me back to the index page. Then I have to go find the thread all over again.
Is there a fix for that?

That I do not know. It may be one of those things with the new software or be an issue with the particular style we are using. Hopefully Dave will see this. Shoot me a PM or email to remind me and I'll try and do some research to see if it's a known issue.
